Newcastle United fans took to Twitter in order to heap praise on Sean Longstaff after witnessing his performance against St Patrick’s Athletic on Tuesday.
The Magpies defeated the Irish Premier Division side 2-0 with the 20-year-old central midfielder getting himself on the scoresheet in his first outing for the senior side.
Longstaff put in an impressive display and several Magpies supporters took to social media so they could praise the youngster’s latest display, with one claiming that he was the best player on the pitch.

Newcastle fans were clearly thrilled about Longstaff’s potential after Rafa Benitez gave him a well-deserved opportunity to feature in pre-season for the club. The 20-year-old has never featured in a competitive game for the senior side in his career so far but supporters now know that he is likely to break into the first-team in the not so far distant future. The midfielder impressed when on loan at Blackpool last season with him making 45 appearances in League One in order to gain valuable experience. The Chronicle previously reported that Longstaff was set to join Portsmouth on a six-month loan deal for the upcoming campaign and this will have fans keeping one eye on League One in order to see how the 20-year-old fares next season.
