Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is eyeing up two more deals before the transfer window ends, according to the Chronicle.

The newspaper reports on their website that the Spaniard has two more potential deals for players on the cards, which he hopes to seek out once the deal for striker Yoshinori Muto is completed.

He is keen for another No 10 and full-back to join his ranks to provide the extra boost the squad needs ahead of the upcoming season, with West Brom forward Salomon Rondon at the top of his list in a potential swap deal with frontman Dwight Gayle.

OPINION

Rafa Benitez is right for wanting to add two more players to his ranks, especially after the relatively slow transfer business that the club has conducted already. He has recently acquired the services of Fabian Schar and is due to complete a deal for forward Yoshinori Muto, but undoubtedly feels that his squad is not at full strength yet. A new full-back to provide cover for Paul Dummett and DeAndre Yedlin is essential, as he only has Javier Manquillo as the only back-up for both players. Benitez will need to move quickly however, as it is not long before the window shuts, and he will not want to wait until January to seek out these reinforcements. It will be a hard task searching for players in these positions with a limited budget, particularly as Newcastle are still holding out for £20 million for striker Aleksandr Mitrovic – but once they recieve this fee, then they will have more freedom in their search.
