Talks to take Newcastle United midfielder Henri Saivet to Turkish side Bursaspor are hanging in the balance over wage demands, according to Olay

The Turkish regional newspaper claim that Saivet is demanding £1million-a-season from the Super Lig side, an amount they are not willing to agree to.

Olay claim that Newcastle’s insistence on a permanent exit for Saivet is another stumbling block, with Bursaspor keen on a potential loan deal.

Good move for Newcastle United?

Any move to get Saivet off the books is a good one for Newcastle.

The midfielder is reported to be on massive wages of £35,000-a-week, and that has meant the club has simply been bleeding money on him since his arrival.

The Senegal international has amazingly made just eight appearances over two years on Tyneside, departing on two loan spells during that time.

Therefore the club must do all they can to get rid of the 27-year-old this summer, including potentially waiving a fee to merely get him off the wage books.

Likely to happen?

Unfortunately not.

Saivet’s massive wages are posing a massive problem for Newcastle, who are unable to find any suitor willing to match that pay packet.

The midfielder would have to take a massive pay cut to move anywhere on the continent, and it looks unlikely that he will agree to do so lightly.
