Newcastle United are reportedly interested in a move for West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon this summer, and fans have taken to Twitter to react with excitement at the news.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the Magpies are the latest club to join the race for the 28-year-old Venezuela international, who looks set to leave the Baggies following their relegation to the Championship.

The newspaper report that West Brom boss Darren Moore expects Rondon to leave this summer, with several top-flight sides said to be interested in the powerhouse forward.

Previous reports from the Mirror claim that Rondon has a release clause set at £16million following the Baggies relegation, a fee which would match the club’s record transfer for Michael Owen in 2005.

Rondon had a decent season for West Brom in 2017/18, scoring 10 goals in all competitions for the club, but his efforts could not help stave off relegation.

The Venezuela international has turned out 120 times for the club, scoring 28 goals and laying on 10 assists in that time, with his previous experience coming in Spain and Russia.

Newcastle fans have now taken to Twitter to react to the link, with many seemingly happy if such a move took place with the club looking for a new striker this summer.
