Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is going to need to be clever in the transfer market this summer as owner Mike Ashley refuses to heavily back him financially.

The Spaniard will therefore have to seek out deals that will represent good value for money for the club, and ones that he will be able to push through quickly before the new season begins.

A few such deals have just become available, with Premier League rivals Everton reportedly planning a clear-out under new boss Marco Silva.

As reported by the Daily Star, four Toffees players are set to follow Ramiro Funes Mori out the exit door in the coming weeks, after the Argentine defender signed with La Liga side Villareal.

The four players in question are Morgan Schneiderlin, who looks set for a return to France, Wayne Rooney, who is being linked with the MLS, with Ashley Williams and Yannick Bolasie also on the chopping block.

A move for ageing centre-back Williams makes little sense for the Magpies, but one for electric winger Bolasie is one that Benitez must consider this summer.

The 29-year-old has had a tough time on Merseyside since his move from Crystal Palace two years ago, with a serious knee injury putting him out of action for much of 2017/18.

Bolasie then failed to hit the heights of before as he returned from that injury, and it is easy to forget just how good he was during his days in south London.

The DR Congo international was one of the league’s most exciting wide men, possessing pace and power in equal abundance while showing much-improved finishing and final delivery.

With Everton ready to offload him this summer the Toffees will surely be ready to negotiate a swift exit for the 29-year-old, and Newcastle must capitalise.

The Magpies must move quickly to submit a bid around the £15million mark for Bolasie, in a deal which would represent brilliant value for money for the club.

Benitez is known to want to add another winger to the squad this summer, and an in-form Bolasie would easily play a big part in the starting XI next season.

It is a no-brainer for the Toon, and they must recognise that before it is too late.
