Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has reportedly informed manager Rafa Benitez that he will have to shop for bargains again this summer, and fans have taken to Twitter to fume about the news.
As reported by the Chronicle, Ashley has given Benitez his budget for the summer window, with the club looking set for a repeat of last year which saw the Spaniard dip into the loan and cut-price markets.
The regional newspaper claim that Benitez had planned to bring in four or five new faces this summer, with a midfielder, right-back, winger and striker on the radar.
The Chronicle report however that Benitez will now have to reassess his options in the transfer market as he adapts to the news, with the possibility that he will have to wait until the end of the window to seal certain loan deals.
It is said that Benitez is set to be given another modest budget despite the Magpies being in line for a hefty TV payment windfall in July, with Ashley previously stating that he would be backed this summer.
Newcastle fans have now taken to Twitter to react to the news, with many fuming at the club’s decision to cut costs once again despite their impressive return to the Premier League in 2017/18.
Nothing but Newcastle have rounded up some of the best tweets:

Let's hope he does the honourable thing and walks. He and the #nufc fans deserve so much more— Black cloud (@Blackcloud1603) June 15, 2018
So where's the shock here? What do you think "you can have every penny you GENERATE" means (you sell before you can buy). Rafa will walk (probably with about 4 days of the transfer window left).
