Newcastle United supporters on social media responded positively to the idea of signing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere but dismissed the club’s chances of getting a deal done.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who earns a staggering £110,000-a-week on his current contract as reported by the Telegraph, shared on Tuesday that he was set to depart the Gunners when his contract expired in June.
Wilshere posted a heartfelt message via his Instagram account to issue the huge update on his future and this revelation had Magpies fans wondering about him potentially rocking up at St James Park in the near future.
Several fans shared their concerns over his injury record but a large majority of supporters of Rafa Benitez’s side loved the idea that the 26-year-old could soon pull on the famous Newcastle United shirt.
One fan tweeted to question how people were saying no to the idea as they considered Wilshere to be unreal on his day as he was able to walk past players.
Another supporter took to Twitter to state that while it would be some signing he would spend time in the medical bay, with another appearing to agree with him as they said it was just too risky.
However a large group of fans didn’t even know why the idea of Wilshere joining was being discussed as the club would never meet his likely wage demand.
Nothing But Newcastle have rounded up the best tweets about potential signing Wilshere after his revelation:
We already have better players that actually spend time on the pitch, as opposed to keeping the physios company.

As if Ashley would sanction this one. Waste of time reporting IMO

How are people saying no! On his day he’s unreal! Walks past players! Plus it’s free

Would be phenomenal but we’d never break our wage structure for him

To be honest I'm not sure it's even worth discussing. Because he's available on a free he's GUARANTEED to be asking huge money (probably over 100k) & there's no way we'll pay that for a sick note. Really can't see this one happening. West Ham will probably get him.

Shelvey and Wilshere would be brilliant but no, too risky

Never happen anyway….but it would be some signing if it happened! Him and Aarons would have each other to talk to in the sick bay
