Newcastle United supporters on social media were very sure they that didn’t want their club to sign Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge anytime soon.
The Magpies are believed to have been offered the opportunity to sign the 28-year-old attacker by the player’s agent, as reported by the Chronicle, with him available to purchase for £15million.
The northern newspaper also stated that Sturridge previously had the opportunity to join the Magpies in January but snubbed the chance to arrive at the St James Park and opted to sign on loan with West Bromwich Albion.
However it is believed according to the paper’s report that Benitez has other targets higher up his wanted list and he hasn’t forgotten that the player rejected a move to the Magpies in the last transfer window.
Magpies supporters will be relieved to hear that Benitez isn’t currently pursuing the Reds’ attacker signature as a large majority took to Twitter to moan about the idea of signing him.
One fan claimed that Sturridge, who has a salary of £120,000-a-week according to The Times, wasn’t even an upgrade of current Magpies forward Dwight Gayle and asked the club to politely not take the chance to sign the Premier League forward.

Maybe sign slimani too, what a partnership that would be in the injury room.

Just not the type of striker we’d even consider. Rafa will be looking at a young striker with a high work rate who’ll graft all game.
