Newcastle fans happy to see Mbemba go

Newcastle United are reportedly on the verge of selling Chancel Mbemba to Porto for £8million – and fans have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment.

The Chronicle claim the north-east giants are working on a deal to sell the 23-year-old to defender to the Portugese champions as he edges close to the exit door.

It is said that a fee is not yet agreed between the two clubs but Mbemba’s agent has said the player has already agreed the terms of a four-year contract.

Mbemba, who earns £1.8million-a-year (source: Spotrac), was shunted to the fringes of the Newcastle team last season and did not make a single matchday squad in the second half of the campaign.

But supporters are disappointed that he is heading out for what they believe is below market value given the calibre he has shown since signing from Anderlecht in 2015.

A section of fans took to social to share their views, with one claiming he will make major strides when he is playing regularly and will be worth £50million next year.
