Newcastle United fans slammed Nicolai Jorgensen for his performance after watching him feature for Denmark against Peru on Saturday in the World Cup.

The forward, who stands at 6ft 3in tall (Source: Transfermarkt), played 90 minutes for his nation in their opening game of the World Cup as they narrowly beat Peru 1-0.

Jorgensen has been regularly linked with a move to St James Park in recent times and according to a report by the Chronicle in May, the Magpies still have an interest in signing the forward and he remains on their radar.

Due to this Magpies supporters watched the giant 27-year-old carefully when witnessing Denmark’s opening game and weren’t impressed with what they saw.

One fan tweeted that Jorgensen had been an incredibly frustrating watch while another went as far as to describe his performance as horrific.

The centre-forward, who plays for Dutch side Feyenoord, scored 13 goals, while creating three, in the 34 appearances he made during the 2017/18 season.

Yet after watching him perform in the World Cup, Magpies supporters were left urging their club to look at signing other players to improve their side’s attacking threat.

A few fans took to Twitter to directly mention that forward Alfred Finnbogason looked good when featuring for Iceland during their 1-1 draw with Argentina.
