Newcastle United have handed a trial to Switzerland Under-17 international Yannick Toure, according to the Chronicle.

The newspaper report that the Magpies are looking to strengthen their youth set-up next season amid a mass clear-out, and have been monitoring 17-year-old striker Toure for several months.

The Chronicle claim that he has been given the chance to impress on trial this week, with his contract at Swiss outfit Young Boys coming to an end this summer.

It is said that Newcastle may still have to pay a compensation fee for Toure should they decide to sign him, with Arsenal and Juventus also said to be interested.

Good move for Newcastle United?

Yes.

Toure looks a real talent, and the Magpies would do brilliantly well to win the race for his signature this summer.

The young striker is known for his lightning pace, and his versatility is also impressive with Toure being able to play on either wing as well.

It is said that he is viewed as a player with potential to break into the first-team in the future, and a cut-price compensation fee is therefore massively worth it for the Magpies.

Likely to happen?

It looks like Newcastle are well in the hunt to sign Toure, and the fact they have handed him a trial is a good sign.

However, with clubs like Juventus and Arsenal also showing interest, the Toon may find there is competition for his signature.

However, if Toure does impress and Newcastle offer him a deal, then you would expect him to accept.
