Newcastle United must rescue Fernando Llorente from his Tottenham nightmare and allow him to be a prolific force in the Premier League with them.
The Magpies are in need of signing a forward capable of firing them to success as they currently lack a clinical goalscorer in their side, who will enable them to guarantee a respectful Premier League finish.
With the club’s transfer budget unknown and the last two transfer windows showing that Mike Ashley isn’t in a rush to dig deep into his pockets, Rafa Benitez needs to be economical when recruiting players.
The Telegraph reported on Monday that Tottenham were going to sell anybody Mauricio Pochettino believes he can replace with a question mark over Llorente’s future.
The Spurs manager will clearly end up deciding to get rid of Llorente as he has played only 11 minutes of his side’s last 13 league matches.
The 33-year-old has only scored five goals in 31 appearances across all competitions in his debut season for Spurs this campaign.
The forward’s goal return is only made worse when you consider three of those goals all came in the FA Cup match against Rochdale at Wembley.
However after scoring 15 goals in 33 outings in the previous season when at Swansea City, the forward’s ability to score in the Premier League is clearly somewhere hidden within him.
In fairness, Llorente has had to deal with not playing 90 minutes regularly as Spurs have used him all season as only cover for Harry Kane.
The 33-year-old, given his previous goal return in England’s top-flight, would be the ideal signing for the Magpies to make in the summer.
Benitez has proven time and time again that he can get the best out of his players and Llorente would be no different, as clearly he is a talented attacker.
The veteran would be no be doubt available at a reasonable price as the Telegraph’s report suggests he’s facing an exit and because his contract expires in 2019, so Spurs have to sell him this summer if they want to get a decent fee for him.
This time pressure could see the Magpies secure a bargain price for a forward who may have simply had an off-season, due to losing his confidence as a result of barely being used.
Therefore the Magpies must swoop for Llorente in the summer as with a little bit of Benitez magic, he will be exactly what they need.
