Newcastle Untied manager Rafael Benitez is lining up a bid to sign Galatasaray attacker Garry Rodrigues, according to Milliyet.

The Turkish news outlet claims that the Magpies are set to reignite a move to sign the 27-year-old in the summer after holding interest in the past.

It is understood that the Premier League outfit are readying a £20million bid to sign the speed machine from the Turkish top-flight leaders Galatasaray.

The Cape Verde international has been in brilliant form this season, scoring 10 goals and supplying 11 assists in all competitions.

Rodrigues is a skilful left-winger renowned for his blistering speed and he has shown this campaign he has a real eye for goal.

Good move for Newcastle?

Rodrigues is enjoying arguably the best season of his career to date, but he has not done enough to warrant a £20million bid from Newcastle.

He is a tricky wide man with a lot of potential and has been lighting up the Turkish league, but it would be a huge risk from Benitez’s side to bring him to England for a huge transfer free.

There is no guarantee he would be able to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League and money this summer should be invested in proven talents.

Nothing but Newcastle rating: 3/10

Likely to happen?

Newcastle have been credited with a lot of interest in Rodrigues in the past, but it seems unlikely the club will fork out a mammoth eight-figure sum for him this summer.
