Newcastle United have plenty of work to do this summer and Rafael Benitez is looking to shore-up his options between the posts, especially with the future of on-loan stopper Martin Dubravka still undecided.

Whilst Newcastle want to secure a permanent deal for the Slovakia international, and the player himself is keen on a move, the Magpies will have some negotiations to do in the market – and it’s not the only goalkeeping deal Rafael Benitez is looking to complete.

The Chronicle states Newcastle remain in talks with Karl Darlow regarding an extension to his contract, although the out-of-favour stopper is seeking assurances before committing to a new deal.

Darlow was first-choice during Newcastle’s Championship winning campaign last year but began the new season as understudy to Rob Elliot, then losing his place in the side to Dubravka following his arrival in January.

The 27-year-old is set to enter the final two years of his contract at St. James’ Park but wants assurances that he has a reasonable chance of playing next season, with Benitez keen on bringing in Dubravka and retaining Elliot.
