Newcastle United fans on social media were very pleased to hear that Nottingham Forest would try to sign midfielder Jack Colback on a permanent basis in the summer.

The Championship side want to sign the 28-year-old midfield enforcer from the Magpies on a permanent basis in the summer, according to the Nottingham Post.

The local newspaper claim that Forest have a long list of transfer targets for the summer, as they wish to add up to 10 players to their squad, and Colback is among the names being looked at.

The Magpies midfielder is currently on loan at the City Ground, after joining Forest in January, and is set to return to St James’ Park shortly as Aitor Karanka’s side played their last game of the season on Sunday.

However after featuring 16 times for the Championship side this season, it seems Forest are keen to keep him beyond this summer.

Newcastle supporters on Twitter celebrated the idea of Colback never playing for the Magpies again, with many offering to do what they could to make a deal happen.

One fan tweeted that Forest could have the midfielder on a free if they wanted as long as it meant he was gone, while another supporter piped up on Twitter to offer Colback a lift to the City Ground.
