Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to give mixed verdicts to the club attempting to meet Leicester City’s valuation of Islam Slimani this summer.
Algerian publication Le Buteur claim the Foxes have slapped a £17.5million price tag on the centre-forward, who spent the second half of 2017-18 at St James’ Park.
Slimani, 29, spent the first two months injured with a thigh injury and then made only four appearances without scoring before returning to Leicester early after a suspension kept him out of Newcastle’s final three matches.
However, the striker has an impressive track record at Leicester, previous club Sporting Lisbon – where he netted 57 times in 111 matches – as well as with the Algeria national team.
This has persuaded some Newcastle fans that the exciting Slimani could be worth persevering with, while others were adamant he is a total waste of money.
