Newcastle United fans on social media were celebrating the news that the club were ready to listen to offers for defender Javier Manquillo.
The Magpies have plans to bin the 24-year-old right-back this summer, according to the Chronicle, as they’re willing to hear offers for the defender in order to see him leave St James Park.
Manquillo made 23 appearances in the recently ended season after joining from Atletico Madrid in July 2017 but failed to establish himself in his favourite position of right-back.
In fact out of the 23 outings he did make, the 24-year-old was only used as a right-back in eight of them.
Upon learning that the club were ready to cut Manquillo’s time short at St James Park, he’s contracted to stay until 2020, fans went into celebration mode.
One supporter tweeted that the phone wouldn’t be exactly ringing off the hook with offers, while another claimed that all the Magpies could hope for is that a club from Spain pay peanuts for his services.
There was even one fan that was bold enough to suggest that no other club would make an offer and they were willing to guarantee that fact.
