Newcastle United fans on social media reacted to the idea that Liverpool had included Jamaal Lascelles on their four-man shortlist as they plan a summer rebuild.
The Independent reported on Monday that the Reds wanted a goalkeeper, an attacker but were prioritising signing a centre-back as that was the position that they wanted to strengthen the most.
The newspaper claimed that the Reds’ transfer committee feel that Burnley’s James Tarkowski and Lascelles both fit the bill of what they’re looking for, with the club aiming to try to buy one of them.
The Independent’s report didn’t claim which defender Jurgen Klopp was favouring at this stage and highlighted the fact that both had impressed in the recently concluded Premier League campaign.
The idea of the Magpies selling their 24-year-old captain wasn’t a welcomed one among supporters, with some fans dismissing the idea as plausible, as the report suggested that Klopp was only looking to bolster his squad not sign new players who would be guaranteed first-team members.
One Magpies fan tweeted that as Liverpool, who finished fourth in the recently finished Premier League campaign, were just adding depth, Lascelles shouldn’t be interested as he warms the bench for no one.

That's fine just give us 60 mill as that's whathes he's worth IMO van dijk went for 75 mill and he was older and Dutch lascelles is younger not to mention English so I think we can say he is safe unless someone comes in with that figure
