Newcastle United fans on social media mocked Everton for their reported valuation of defender Jamaal Lascelles.

The Daily Mirror reported on Friday that the Toffees were preparing to bid £25million for the 24-year-old centre-back in the summer, with Chelsea and Tottenham also keen to make a move for him.

Magpies supporters were not surprised that their club captain was attracting interest from other Premier League clubs, nor were they concerned that it might potentially lead to Lascelles leaving St James’ Park.

However they did take to Twitter to laugh over the Toffees apparently considering an offer of £25million, with many mocking the Merseyside club and the report for valuing the centre-back so low.

One Magpies fan tweeted that £25million was a joke and that they will only talk about selling him when the figure is at £80million.

While several supporters debated what part of the 24-year-old the Toffees were hoping to get for such a low figure, with many believing it wouldn’t even get them Lascelles’ leg.

The centre-back has been in tremendous form for Rafa Benitez’s side this season, earning many deserved plaudits for the performances he has submitted during the 34 appearances he has made.
