Newcastle are set for plenty of action this summer, as they seek to retain the services of highly-rated manager Rafael Benitez and will look to back him in the transfer market, and one youngster is eyeing a rise into the first-team.

Daniel Barlaser has endured a rollercoaster campaign, with a disappointing loan spell in League Two with Crewe hampering his development, but he’s proven his worth to the reserves this year and scored a free-kick in the midweek victory over Northumberland Senior Cup final.

Admitting that it’s been a difficult season, Barlaser has committed his future to the club and told NUFCTV he was eyeing a long-term stint at Newcastle:

“It’s been a learning curve of a season in terms of getting to exactly where I want to get to.  Going down to League Two and things having not really worked out how I wanted, it meant I’ve come back here and I’ve loved playing with the Under-23s lads again. And I want to play for Newcastle for many years to come, too.”
