Leeds United have taken to Twitter to deliver a positive reaction to speculation their club are interested in signing Karl Darlow from Newcastle United this summer.

The Chronicle claim the goalkeeper is available for sale as the club close in on the capture of Martin Dubravka on a permanent deal after his successful 2017-18 loan spell.

It is said Magpies manager Rafael Benitez is willing to offload the 27-year-old and Championship duo Leeds and Swansea City lead the race for his signature.

Darlow, who stands at 6ft 2in (source: Transfermarkt), has made 58 appearances for Newcastle since signing from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2014 and kept 20 clean sheets in that time.

He was a major success at Forest, where he was regarded as one of the outstanding keepers in the Championship after emerging from their youth ranks.

Leeds are in the market for a new keeper this summer after wretched 2017-18 campaigns for Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan paved the way for Bailey Peacock-Farrell to take on the number one shirt.

A section of supporters took to social media to praise the pursuit of Darlow, hailing him as “class” and a “great keeper”.
