It’s been a successful season for Newcastle back in the Premier League, with the Magpies exceeding expectations and fighting for a spot in the top-half of the table heading into the final matches this year.
After previously occupying a lowly position of 18th in the standings, Newcastle have rallied together during the second-half of the campaign and have enjoyed a fine upturn in form since January, securing their top-flight status for another year.
It’s been a rollercoaster ride for many of the players though, as well as the fans, and Newcastle defender DeAndre Yedlin has taken the time to thank the supporters for their faith during the most difficult point in the season.
Previously suffering a nine-game run without victory, Newcastle have significantly turned things around and Yedlin told The Chronicle he’s thankful for the support.
“If you had said to a lot of people before Christmas ‘Hopefully we’ll be safe with a month to go’ they would have said you were crazy. But to be in this position, you have to give a lot of credit to the players, credit to the staff and the fans for not turning on us. They stuck by us, they were positive and kept us going and ultimately, it’s paid off.”
Performances have dipped in the past few weeks though, as Newcastle have suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Everton and West Brom.
