Newcastle’s fine upturn in form during the second-half of the season has not gone unnoticed, with plenty of the Magpies impressive stars attracting interest from across the continent.

Amongst those is Spain midfielder Ayoze Perez, who has soared to joint-top of the Magpies’ Premier League scoring charts with three goals in his past three matches, joining Dwight Gayle and boasting five for the season.

That has led to speculation that Europa League chasing side Real Betis could make a move in the summer market but Perez, speaking to Spanish outlet AS, has played down the chances of a move to Andalusia by insisting he’s happy at St. James’ Park.

“I am very comfortable in Newcastle. It is the club that has given me the opportunity to play 100 games in the Premier League. I am happy and in the long term I do not know what will happen.”

Perez, a two-time Spain U21 international, is hoping to force his way into his national side in the coming years- but hopes that chance will come without having to leave Newcastle. He added:

‘Hopefully one day Lopetegui can call that canary who plays in the north of England.’
