Newcastle’s superb upturn in form has not gone unnoticed, with the Magpies attracting plenty of plaudits following an impressive four-match winning streak that’s put Rafael Benitez’s side on the brink of securing their Premier League status.

One player who has excelled during this run of form is 26-year-old Jonjo Shelvey, who is now surrounded with plenty of talk ahead of this summer’s World Cup amidst growing calls for the six-cap international to be restored to the England squad.

26-year-old Shelvey has not featured for the Three Lions since 2015 but has a huge chance to prove himself this weekend, asĀ The TimesĀ states Gareth Southgate will be in attendance for Newcastle’s clash with Everton on Monday night.

With regular selections Jack Wilshere and Adam Lallana both battling with injury issues, Shelvey has the chance to push himself into England’s 23 man squad for the trip to Russia and Monday is the ideal time for him to shine.

It also presents Newcastle skipper Jamaal Lascelles with an opportunity to impress, whilst Southgate will also keep tabs on squad regulars John Stones and Jordan Pickford for Everton.
