Newcastle United have significantly turned a corner since the January transfer window, pushing themselves ten points clear of the relegation zone and on the brink of retaining their top-flight status.

Whilst Rafael Benitez insists the Magpies are not yet safe, the reality is that just a few more points will be enough for the club to avoid the drop and the Spaniard’s transfer business has caught the eye of many.

Working on a shoestring budget, Benitez has seen the likes of Mikel Merino and Kenedy impress during their spells at St. James’ Park and another January recruit has caught the eye of former Newcastle man Mickey Quinn.

Speaking to TalkSport, Quinn was full of praise for goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, signed on-loan from Sparta Prague.

“With a limited budget, they got Dubravka on loan. He looks like he has been in that Newcastle team for the past three seasons. He’s assured, keeping clean sheets and talking to the defence.”

Newcastle possess an option to land the Slovakian international permanently this summer and are understood to be keen to exercise that clause.
