Newcastle United have turned a corner in recent weeks, pushing themselves out of the relegation zone and all but securing their top-flight status for another campaign as a result.

Last weekend’s victory against Huddersfield Town has put the Magpies on verge of mathematically securing safety but Rafael Benitez’s side still have work to do, as they prepare for a trip to face Leicester City this weekend.

The Foxes, chasing another campaign in European football, will prove to be difficult opponents for Benitez’s men and former Liverpool man Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Newcastle’s run of form will be brought to an end.

Predicting a 2-0 win for the hosts, Lawrenson said:

“Leicester are chasing Burnley for seventh place, while Newcastle are trying to stay clear of the bottom three. The Magpies make themselves difficult to beat away from home but they never look like scoring enough goals for me, which is why I am going for a Foxes win.”

Defeat would bring an end to a two-game winning streak for Newcastle, potentially leaving the Magpies looking over their shoulders once again.
