Newcastle United are on the verge of securing their Premier League status for another season after four victories in a row saw the Magpies surpass the 40-point mark, meaning the club can now cast their eye towards different challenges.

The future of manager Rafael Benitez remains a huge talking point around St. James’ Park due to his superb performances, wealth of experience and limited budget handed to him at the club- but one pundit has revealed that fans need not worry.

Speaking to TalkSport, Mick Quinn stated that Benitez will remain at the club if the Magpies match his ambition.

“Let me put this to bed straight away [that Benitez could join Arsenal. He wants to stay at Newastle, he’s got a year left, and he’s had other offers,”

“If he gets the backing he will stay at Newcastle. He loves the club and the fans. I was speaking to him on Friday, actually, and he wants to see this job through and see Newcastle above Arsenal next year, possibly in the top six.”

“That’s the ambition Benitez has, but it’s whether Newcastle can match that ambition. I got this from the horse’s mouth on Friday.”

With Newcastle’s position not secure due to ongoing takeover talks, Mike Ashley will need to put his money where his mouth is this summer to help the Magpies keep their most important figure.
