Amanda Staveley’s proposed takeover of Newcastle United looked to be dead in the water following a breakdown in talks over the course of the New Year but revived discussions have put her consortium back on the map.

Mike Ashley has had the club up for sale since October but announced discussions with Staveley were over in February after three bids were rejected, the first of which at £250m was significantly lower than Ashley’s £350m asking price.

However, The Mirror now claim that talks have been salvaged recently and constructive talks have taken place in recent weeks.

With Newcastle on the brink of securing their top-flight status for another campaign following three consecutive wins, Staveley and PCP are back in for the Tyneside giants and are ready to discuss a deal that’s closer to Ashley’s demands.

Confidence of a conclusion is high, as PCP are stated to have already started plans to improve the club’s training ground and it will be music to the ears of Rafael Benitez, who is keen on funds to bolster his side in the summer market.
