Newcastle United have put themselves on the verge of retaining their Premier League status with a superb upturn in form, as Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal saw the Magpies surpass their pre-season target of 40 points.

That’s allowed Rafael Benitez to start to cast attention towards the summer transfer window, where the Spaniard will be hoping to be handed a significant budget to work with to bring new players to the club- and his wishes have been provided with a huge boost.

The Shields Gazette reveals that Newcastle can expect a minimum payment of £79m from the Premier League’s TV revenue deal, with a further £21m being awarded for the Magpies live matches being shown- as Newcastle have been televised 16 times this campaign.

On top of that, each club receives around £1.9m for each place in the Premier League and, on current standings, Newcastle are set to earn around £21m- but that figure could rise if the Magpies surge up the table in the final weeks of the campaign.

Overall, that will hand Newcastle a total of £121m and Benitez can certainly expect to be given some of that money to spend in the market.
