Newcastle United could take advantage of Stoke City’s impending relegation by launching a move for one of their international aces, according to reports.

The Gambling TimesĀ names Rafael Benitez’s side as one of many clubs eyeing a potential swoop for Stoke City’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting this summer, with the Potters looking set to suffer relegation in the coming weeks.

Cameroon international Choupo-Moting only moved to Staffordshire on a free transfer from Schalke last summer but Stoke’s likely drop to the second-tier will leave the 29-year-old on the market once again.

Newcastle will face serious competition in the battle to land the 45-cap international though, who can play on either flank or centrally, as Everton, West Ham, Leicester City and Watford are all named as potential suitors.

Choupo-Moting has impressed in the Premier League this season for the Potters, scoring five goals and registering five assists- meaning he’s play a direct part in almost a third of Stoke’s 32 league goals this term.
