Newcastle United have stormed to safety with four Premier League wins ahead of tonight’s clash with Everton, which has allowed Rafael Benitez to start to focus on his transfer business this summer.

The Magpies have already exceeded expectations, fighting for a top-half finish in their final five matches, but a lack of consistency in the final third has been an issue this summer, leading Benitez to eye a new leading man.

According to The Sun, Newcastle’s priority is Bournemouth’s Norway international Joshua King and Benitez is hoping to get approval from the club’s board to launch a £20m swoop for the established striker.

King has excelled with the Cherries under Eddie Howe but could be tempted into a move this summer to become the leading man, as he’s forced to battle-it-out with the likes of Benik Afobe and Callum Wilson on the South Coast.

Everton are also said to be chasing a deal for the 26-year-old, capped 31 times by Norway, and a fierce fight for his services could emerge.
