Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is seeking improvements to his squad this summer and the Magpies’ attack is crying out for changes, following a campaign where they have lacked consistency in front of goal this term.

Current joint-top scorers Dwight Gayle and Ayoze Perez have scored five goals each this season, while Newcastle themselves have netted just 35 goals in 34 Premier League matches this season- leading Rafael Benitez to seek improvements.

According to South American outlet OvacionNewcastle boss Benitez has expressed an interest in luring Hull City’s Uruguay international Abel Hernandez to St. James’ Park at the end of the current campaign.

Hernandez, who has struggled with injury problems this term, has scored eight goals in ten appearances this season, while last year he boasted a return of 20 Championship goals during the 2015/16 campaign.

The 27-year-old clearly has the ability to be consistent in front of goal, providing the boost that Newcastle need, although he’s hardly the top-class addition many would be crying out for.
