Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has started to identify his plans for the summer transfer window, with the Magpies set for another campaign in the top-flight after surging up the standings with a run of four consecutive victories.
Benitez is keen to bolster his squad with a number of additions and the Tyneside outfit have regularly been linked with a move for Sampdoria’s Belgium international Dennis Praet, who Newcastle see as a superb candidate to improve their midfield ranks.
However, Newcastle face an immense battle if they’re to lure the 23-year-old to St. James’ Park as he’s confirmed to Corriere Dello Sport that Serie A title-chasers Juventus are interested in his services.
“If Juve are monitoring me I can only be happy. They are a top club, the best one in Italy. Their interest make me happy but at the moment I have full focus on Sampdoria”
“Having said that, there are many strong footballers at Sampdoria this season. I’m satisfied about my performances this season even if I didn’t make as much assists as I was used to and I have yet to score one goal this season. When I was playing for Anderlecht I scored ten goals each season.”
Praet is said to have a €25m release-clause in his contract with Sampdoria, having signed for the club from Anderlecht for €10m in 2016.
