Newcastle United have seen Aleksandar Mitrovic excel on-loan with Championship promotion chasers Fulham, leading to intense speculation regarding the future of the Serbia international.
The 23-year-old has scored nine goals in 13 appearances since moving to Craven Cottage, aiding Slavisla Jokanovic’s side during their push for a return to the Premier League, and has now earned high praise from a rival Championship boss.
Named the league’s Player of the Month for March, Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock hailed Mitrovic as the best signing in the league when speaking after his side’s recent defeat to Aston Villa. Quoted by The Chronicle, he said:
“The striker they got on loan has been the best signing in the whole league. That’s what they’ve been missing for the past few years and all credit to them.”
Fulham sit second in the table with four games to go, occupying the final automatic promotion spot, but are just one point ahead of Warnock’s Cardiff, who still have a game in hand.
Mitrovic will return to Newcastle this summer when his loan spell expires but it remains to be seen where his future lies.
