Newcastle United are approaching the end of their first campaign back in the Premier League and Rafael Benitez’s side will be aiming to finish the season on a high.
The Spaniard could make some changes to his side for the final four games and has hinted that he could hand opportunities to the likes of Chancel Mbemba and Ciaran Clark, who have struggled to earn regular opportunities at St. James’ Park this season.
However, quoted by The Chronicle, Benitez suggested that the pair could earn chances in the season’s finale as he rotates his squad.
“It’s difficult for them because the team won a few games in a row recently. I have repeated the team, but now maybe I will make some changes and give some players the opportunity to impress in the last few games.”
“They know that they have to keep training well and maybe it will be easier for me to send the message across that I want to make changes. Now everybody has the option to do well for the team.”
Mbemba has earned nine Premier League appearances, while Clark has appeared in 20 league matches.
