Newcastle have intensified their pursuit of winger Garry Rodrigues ahead of the huge Süper Lig derby clash between Galatasaray and Fenerbache.
Turkish Football are claiming that United and Everton, managed by former boss Sam Allardyce, will dispatch scouts and club officials to the Intercontinental Derby, in which Rodridgues is expected to start for Galatasaray at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium.
It won’t be the first time either Premier League club has scouted the 27-year-old this season and both have already held initial talks with the Istanbul giants regarding a possible summer deal.
Dutch-born Rodrigues, a Cape Verde international, has impressed for Fatih Terim’s side this season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in 30 appearances this season.
Several clubs are understood to be keen on signing the exciting attacker, but will have to stump up around €20 million for a player the Lions bought from POAK in January 2017.
Newcastle have already seen two bids rebuffed, but are likely to keep tabs on Rodrigues for the rest of the season before Rafa Benitez decides whether to step up his interest when the transfer window reopens.
