Paul Dummett needed only four words to sum up the feeling that was flowing through Newcastle in the aftermath of the superb 1-0 win against Manchester United on Sunday.

Despite facing the threat of in-form Anthony Martial down the, the Geordie left-back easily nullified the £57 million winger and eventually  forced him to escape to the opposite side of the pitch in the second half after Juan Mata was subbed on.

Dummett, and the rest of the back five including debutant goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, were rewarded for their committed display with a clean sheet and three points that catapulted Rafa Benitez’s side up to 13th in the Premier League table.

Overall, it was an outstanding day for everyone connected to Newcastle and Dummett’s impactful verdict required just a four of Twitter’s 280 character limit.

Dummett’s return to the team has coincided with a significant up-turn in form with the 26-year-old bringing some much-needed balance to a back four that was shipping goals at an alarming rate.

It’s a statistic that was highlighted by Chronicle journalist Mark Douglas after the match.
