Newcastle have been dealt a major blow in their summer transfer plans after Galatasaray raised the asking price for winger Garry Rodrigues to €20 million.

Another starring performance from Rodrigues in the 5-0 thrashing of Bursaspor last Friday, in which he scored the second and assisted two more, has resulted in Galatasaray upping the valuation of one of their prized assets according to Turkish daily newspaper Milliyet.

Interest in the Cape Verde international continues to grow with Sevilla, Lyon and Fiorentina set to rival Newcastle for Rodrigues signature when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.

Galatasaray are understood to have made the decision to increase their price for Rodrigues due to his impressive recent form and the fact his former club PAOK are owed 20% of any future transfer fee.

Newcastle have already had two bids rejected for the 27-year-old, the latest coming in January, with Rafa Benitez reportedly keen on Rodrigues, who has six goals and nine assists this season.
