Newcastle United were extremely active in the loan market during January’s transfer window, with one recruit being the capture of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

The Slovakian stopper moved to the Premier League on-loan from Sparta Prague for the remainder of the season and Newcastle possess the option to make a deal permanent at the end of the campaign.

According to reports, Dubravka’s move can be made permanent for a fee of £4m and the 29-year-old hopes he makes a positive impression to earn that chance. Quoted by The Chroniclehe said:

“It’s exciting to be here, it is a big club particularly in my own country. I appreciate the opportunity and I will try to do my best to stay and hopefully it will not just be a loan,”

“I really hope I get to stay longer than six months. It’s a huge opportunity for my life.”

Dubravka is yet to make his debut for Newcastle and will have to oust Karl Darlow from the position in the first-team before he’s handed his chance to shine.
