Newcastle United are preparing for a challenging end to the Premier League season, as the Magpies look to retain their status in the top-flight.

Rafael Benitez’s side were bolstered in January through the additions of Kenedy, Martin Dubravka and Islam Slimani, all of whom arrived on-loan, and he’s suggested the former could play in an alternative role on Tyneside.

Speaking to The ChronicleBenitez stated that Kenedy could play as an attacking full-back rather than just as a wide midfielder.

“We have got somebody else to come in and do something different [to Dummett], Kenedy will more or less bring that to us. Kenedy is a winger that can play as an offensive full-back when we need. They are two different roles.”

The versatility that the young Brazilian can provide will be a valuable boost to a Newcastle side who have struggled for consistency this season, especially in defensive areas.
