“I chose Fulham because of the style, because of the coach,” he explained. “Fulham play the best football in the league, definitely.
“It is the best move for me, even better than Anderlecht probably.”
Aleksandar Mitrovic has revealed that his Deadline Day loan move from Newcastle to Fulham was thrashed out on Snapchat.
The Serbia international endured a frantic 24 hours during which a return to former club Anderlecht broke down, despite flying to Belgium, before he secured a move to Craven Cottage with just hours to spare as the January window closed until the summer.
“I won’t lie to you,” the 23-year-old told Jokanovic. “I am going to Anderlecht so you can bring in a different striker.”
But when it became apparent that Anderlecht did not possess the necessary funds to complete the move, Mitrovic contacted Jokanovic via Snapchat and set the wheels in motion that ended with him wearing a Fulham shirt at the end of the day.
“How are you?” He wrote in a message. “It’s your lucky day, the deal is broken.”
Three days later Mitrovic made his debut as a second half substitute in the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest and reflected his reasons for dropping back down to the Championship to join Fulham.
“I chose Fulham because of the style, because of the coach,” he explained. “Fulham play the best football in the league, definitely.
“It is the best move for me, even better than Anderlecht probably.”
