Newcastle United secured a memorable win over Manchester United on Sunday afternoon to rise out of the Premier League’s relegation zone but there’s still a lot of work to be done.

The Magpies have struggled for consistency in front of goal this season, scoring just 25 times in 27 matches, and a move was made in January to bolster that position- with Rafael Benitez bringing in Islam Slimani on-loan from Leicester City.

Algerian forward Slimani is yet to make his debut for the Magpies though after battling with a fitness issue during the first few weeks of his time on Tyneside but he was hoping to make his debut against Manchester United.

However, Benitez omitted him from the squad and explained his decision after the game. Quoted by The Shields Gazettehe said:

“He was fine, but he was still feeling it a little bit. It was a case of waiting because we have 15 days now before the next game so we can keep working with him.”

Newcastle now have a big break before another testing clash in the Premier League against Bournemouth, who will be looking for a response after losing 4-1 to Huddersfield.
