Newcastle United are poised to get the signings they require in the final two weeks of the transfer window, though it appears the deals will only be temporary.

The Northern Echo states that managing director Lee Charnley has been instructed to broke three loan deals in the January transfer window, with the Magpies not having any movement on the reduced spending that Mike Ashley has imposed.

Benitez is desperate for cash, and will reignite his plea to the board, but in the meantime the club will push ahead in the quest to land loan signings- with targets including Chelsea’s Kenedy, who excelled in an FA Cup third round replay against Norwich City, and Crystal Palace’s Pape Souare.

It’s likely that the Magpies will sign only one left-sided player during this month’s window, with Benitez’s other two targets being a new goalkeeper and a reliable striker- both areas where the Tyneside giants have struggled this season.

Targets in those areas continue to be named, though there isn’t much movement yet, and the next seven days are likely to be crucial to the remainder of the season.
