Newcastle United face a crucial test in the weeks ahead as they look to bolster their squad in key areas, with the Magpies sat just three points above the relegation zone.

Rafael Benitez is desperately searching the market for the ideal fit for his squad and the latest reports suggest he’s settled on a player who has caught the eye of a number of Premier League sides.

The Daily Mail stated in it’s live transfer feed on Tuesday (14:08) that Newcastle have joined Stoke, Crystal Palace and Watford in the hunt for Papa Badou Ndiaye.

Holding midfielder Ndiaye only moved to current side Galatasaray last summer but his performances have caught the eye- and a deal would be fairly easy to secure, given the Senegalese international has a reported £18m buy-out clause in his contract.

That, however, is a problem for a Newcastle side that find themselves restricted financially during the January transfer window and it makes a deal for the Magpies highly unlikely, unless they raise serious funds with departures.
