Newcastle United’s future continues to be shrouded in uncertainty as takeover talks continue for the Tyneside giants and there is growing danger that it could effect the Magpies’ movement in the January market.

Rafael Benitez’s side have struggled to find consistency this month and the Spaniard has long claimed his side is not good enough to compete in the Premier League, having become frustrated in the summer with a lack of funds.

Unfortunately, the experienced manager is likely to find similar problems in his quest for spending money in the mid-season window as The Chronicle reports that Mike Ashley rejected the offer of help from Amanda Staveley.

Staveley and PCP, still ranked as the most likely to complete a takeover of the Tyneside giants, offered to aid the club in the transfer window- with it understood that Ashley would have paid for players this month and then have been reimbursed once a takeover was complete.

However, the controversial chairman rejected that offer and Newcastle will likely find their spending kitty extremely limited once again this month- which could provide a negative impact in the Magpies’ quest to retain their Premier League status.
