Newcastle United have so far found things difficult in the January transfer market and a testing week lies ahead for the Magpies, as they seek to improve their squad ahead of next Wednesday’s deadline.

Financial restraints on Tyneside continue to hold back Rafael Benitez in his endeavours on the market and the club need to show some faith in their Spaniard by approving high profile loan deals, which will be significant but won’t break the bank.

Amongst those being linked with an incredible move to the North East is Borussia Dortmund’s World Cup winning midfielder Andre Schurrle, who The Guardian claims has been offered to Newcastle on-loan for the next 18 months.

Stoke City are also said to be interested in Schurrle’s signature but Newcastle cannot afford to miss out on this chase, as the German international is the sort of player who can provide a massive lift to the relegation threatened squad.

Experienced in the Premier League due to his time with Chelsea, Schurrle would provide an immediate improvement to the club in the January transfer window and his ability out wide could lead to the improvement Newcastle need in front of goal.

Whilst their big problem has been their struggles to find the net, Newcastle have also struggled to find creativity in the final third and the addition of Schurrle would go a long way to improving that area of Newcastle’s side.

If Benitez is to also land a new striker this month, another rumour that’s widely being reported, then Schurrle could be an even better recruit- and the potential partnership with Atletico Madrid’s Kevin Gameiro is something that Newcastle fans should be very excited about.

The duo would prove to be costly in wages but the board need to approve deals of this magnitude if they’re to keep Rafael Benitez happy, as the Spaniard could walk at the end of the season if he continues t be frustrated on the transfer front.
