Newcastle United are edging closer to a takeover of the club with Mike Ashley set to accept a second bid for the club from Amanda Staveley and her consortium PCP Capital Partners.
The Geordie businessman has been at the helm of the club for just over a decade had valued the club at over £300 million, and hence rejected Staveley’s original bid of £250 million.
There were growing fears from Newcastle fans that a takeover wouldn’t happen after a first offer was rejected, however with the Sports Direct owner keen to push through the sale of the club before Christmas, he is thought to be prepared to accept the improved offer of £300 million that was lodged in recent days.
With the new offer closer to Ashley’s valuation of the club however, The Sun believe takeover is impending and could happen within the next fortnight.
A sale of £300 million would see Ashley over double his investment, having bought the Tyneside outfit for just under £150 million back in 2007.
The fans seem delighted that a takeover is imminent …

I wud like to think Rafa will get more to fund Jan transfers. #nufc Probably keeping the amount speculative wud be best rather than get inflated quotes from agents/clubs
