Newcastle United continue to be embroiled with takeover discussions that show no signs of reaching a conclusion, which adds concerns given the club’s poor position in the Premier League.

The Magpies have endured a series of eight defeats in their last nine league matches, which has seen the Tyneside giants slump down the table and into the relegation zone- where they could find themselves at for Christmas, should they fail to beat West Ham in this weekend’s crucial tie.

Fans, former players and pundits alike have called for a swift conclusion to takeover talks but it seems that the club’s poor form could throw a spanner in the works, as a report from The Daily Mail states that Newcastle’s valuation could drop by as much as £125m should the club be relegated.

With the situation on the pitch not being pretty, the threat of relegation is a real concern to investors and may mean that talks regarding a deal continue to rumble on- potentially having an effect on Rafael Benitez’s January transfer window.
