Newcastle United are seeking additions to bolster their side in January but Rafael Benitez may find it difficult to get exactly what he wants, with takeover discussions rumbling on.

The uncertainty surrounding the Magpies will lead to frustrating times in the transfer window, with funds likely to be restricted, so Benitez will be looking to save pennies in whatever way he can- and an ideal deal has been handed on a plate.

Sport Witness cite Spanish outlet AS as stating that Real Madrid are ready to allow Kiko Casilla an exit on-loan in January, with Zinedine Zidane’s Champions League winning side looking to sign Kepa from Athletic Bilbao.

It follows claims from Marca last week that Benitez had ‘expressly requested’ Newcastle sign his compatriot, as the Magpies look to bolster their options and fight away from the relegation scuffle at the foot of the Premier League.

With this deal being affordable and seemingly easy to complete, it could be a very merry Christmas for Newcastle United after all.
