Newcastle United are seeking to bolster their attacking options in the January transfer window, as Rafael Benitez’s side have slumped down the table following a woeful run of form.

The Magpies have picked up just one point from the last 18 available and now sit just five points above the Premier League’s relegation zone, whilst takeover talks behind the scenes continue to rumble on and shroud the club in uncertainty.

Benitez is keen for action in January and a new, consistent striker is on his short-list for the New Year, though he may face competition for one of the names he’s considering.

The GuardianĀ states that Newcastle are one of three Premier League sides interested in a loan deal for out of favour Liverpool striker Danny Ings, with fellow strugglers West Ham and Crystal Palace also interested in the forward.

Ings has played just 17 minutes of senior football this season but has raised interest in his services with fine performances for the U23 side, as he continues his return from a lengthy injury absence that has seen him sidelined for the majority of Jurgen Klopp’s spell in charge at Anfield.
